Learning to read is the single most important skill necessary for a happy, productive, and successful life. A child that has mastered the skill of reading is confident, has a high level of self-esteem, and is able to easily transition from learning to read to reading to learn. This child also has the ability to explore Science, History, Health, and all other subjects. Between the ages of 5 through 15, children with reading difficulties may experience many painful experiences and are unable to move to the skill of reading to learn. These students will experience poor self-esteem resulting in behavioral problems. Children who are unable to feel good about themselves often become the class clown or give in to peer pressure.
